Tracing its roots back to 1946, the house of Christian Dior has
remained one of the most prominent French fashion houses for its
reputation and its strong identity portraying femininity and
elegance in style to this day.
The House of Dior keeps a storage facility within Paris containing
a portion of the collection of timeless pieces since the boutique
on 30 Rue Montaigne was established. In this episode of Café with
Grace, my visit to the Dior archives is truly a gem experienced by
only a privileged few. I am thrilled to take you with me in a
virtual tour around the Archives of Dior with Soizic Pfaff, the
official archivist at Dior, discovering the stories of the iconic
pieces and the man behind the brand, Christian Dior:
❖ The Interiors at the Archives of Dior [4:57]
❖ The Library of Dior [11:33]
❖ The Boxes and Tools Room and the Delicate Storage System
[12:33]
❖ The Perfume/Fragrance Room and Miss Dior [13:55]
❖ The Bags/Accessories Room: The signature ‘CD’ and the Duchess of
Windsor’s slippers [15:40]
❖ The Dresses Room and Christian Dior’s prelude to online shopping
experience [19:26]
❖ Christian Dior’s memento [23:03]
By the end of this podcast, I hope I have shown you the amazement
and fun I experienced (feeling like I was in an Aladdin’s cave of
wonders!) while appreciating all the value and preciousness of the
brand, and the next time you purchase anything from Dior, you will
cherish it even more knowing how the brand takes care of its
history of creations over the years. I hope you can join me when I
go back to Paris and together let’s visit the House of Dior, if not
maybe even the Archives of Dior. I think you will enjoy shopping in
Paris with me!
